Grandma Creed couldn’t stand it anymore…she had to get Maddie out on the
ice. Maddie and I both had fun, as did Grandma, but we sure could have used
some edges on those skates – the rentals were very beat up. Next time, Grandma
will bring some skates from back home so that Maddie can try again!

We had Lynn’s parents, Mary and Elizabeth over for the long weekend. We had
fun at the house and we also got to go downtown to Betty Brinn’s Children’s
Museum. Click here for the photos. This was the first of many family event’s
now that we are back in Wisconsin!

As you can see, Maddie was a witch this year after we convinced her that a dinosaur for the third year in a row was not happening. Eli really didn’t know what was going on so he decided to be a cat and witch…in overalls. Click here for all of the photos!

It’s official – we are back in Wisconsin! Email us if you want our new contact information!
The move went well; it was a lot of work, but it went well. Here’s a quick recap being that it has been so long:
- We moved to WI back on 9/26 & 9/27 – thanks to all that helped!
- Maddie will not be attending school any more. My Dad (Papa Creed) teases Maddie telling her that she is a kindergarten drop out! The reason she will not be attending school any longer is because she is not old enough per Wisconsin standards…they would not allow her to start here even though she had already started in Kentucky. Per my conversation with Ms. Joanie – Maddie’s teacher in KY – this will not be a bad thing for Maddie. We look forward to finding all sorts of fun things to do!
- Lynn will be starting back at her old job with Grede Foundries soon; this is a God-send for sure. We are still working out the logistics of it all, trying to avoid a HUGE daycare bill!
- I am working from our apartment (we didn’t have time to find a house) until my company restarts the Wisconsin Office project – it was put on hold a few weeks ago.
- After several delays that were completely out of our control, our house-sale is supposed to close on Wednesday of this week. We are very thankful for that!

Ike was a nasty storm; look what it did to us in Louisville, Kentucky! We were so lucky that all we had were some broken trees – no property damage at all.
This all happened on 9/14/2008 – less than two weeks before we are set to close on our house – and the power was out for over eight days straight! What a mess!
The great thing about it was that we had an unexpected surprise visit from our Friends Lyndsey, Nicole and Amber – who live just outside of Nashville, TN – so we had some help cleaning up and some company for the first night in the dark!

Zebra’s, Emus and Deer, oh my!
On Tuesday, we went to a petting zoo called “Henry’s Ark” down the road from our house where the only cost for admission is a bag of carrots to feed the animals. It was a lot of fun and Maddie was able to feed goats, many different kinds of birds, African porcupines, deer and last, but surely not least, zebras! (Madddie’s favorite animal) We also got to feed bigger birds like Emus and Ostriches.

Yesterday Maddie & I, along with my brother Mark, his wife April and their
children Bailey and Hailey went to the Red River Gorge for a day of climbing and
rappelling. Overall, we had a great time!

This past weekend, we spent some time at Otter Creek Park where we visited Morgan’s Cave – much to our surprise, we couldn’t get in!
There is a sign inside the cave that I read with a flashlight that says that they have closed it off because the Gray Bats that live in the cave are very afraid of humans. During the summer months – when many people visit the cave – the Gray Bats will have their babies. The mother bats are so afraid of humans, in fact, that if a person enters the cave, the mother will drop her flightless baby and then the baby will drown in the river at the bottom of the cave.

We had a little party at our house last night as a farewell to our current Crossing Community Group; many of us are going in different directions and we thought that the best way to say goodbye would be to have a pool & slip-n-slide party for the kids. Eli enjoyed his first bit of watermelon that wasn’t pre-cut into small pieces and the rest of the kids enjoyed playing in the yard. Click the photo for a slideshow of the “event.”

Father’s day was a blast! Lynn, Maddie, Eli and I went to the Red River
Gorge for the day to do some hiking, climbing, caving and relaxing. The
hiking was rough in the 90 degree weather, the climbing in Muir Valley was short
- but fun – and the caving was cut short because of some kids that had filled
the whole cave with smoke! Instead of climbing around in the cave, we
hiked up and down the river – in the river – and generally had a great time.
The photo quality stinks because I had to use my phone to take the
pictures…I left the memory cards for my camera at home!

“Mr. Man” has finally changed from his default mode of transportation – the Army Crawl – to actual hands & knees crawling. Isn’t he a cutie?

Yesterday was the Kentucky Derby Festival’s Great Balloon Race; we went to watch nearly 50 balloons fill up and take off in the race.
How it works
The Great Balloon Race follows a combination of a “Declared Goal” and the
traditional ballooning game of “Hare and Hound” race format. The U.S. Bank
balloon leads the action as “the Hare”. And, as any good hound would do, the
other balloons spawn an aerial chase of the Hare, launching in a planned
sequence minutes after the Hare.
The winds determine where the balloons fly. The Hare Balloon flies until it
finds a suitable spot, preferably in a vacant field. It lands and lays out a
large fabric “X” as the target. In hot pursuit, the Hounds try to drop a small
bag of Kentucky Bluegrass seed as close to the “X” as possible, all without
landing. Race officials then measure the distance between the target and the bag
of grass seed at the target zone and calculate points.
The pilot with the most accurate toss is the overall winner receiving $3000
and bragging rights for a year!

After many counter offers, we finally settled on a contract for the property mentioned in the last post late last night; please pray that we sell our house in KY quickly so that we will not miss out on this contract in WI. See photos of the house here.

We made our first trip up to Wisconsin this past weekend to look at homes and we think we found one. We will be putting in our offer tomorrow and praying that the sellers will accept it; we will also be praying for a quick sale on our home in KY.
The house in Wisconsin is a down-size from our current home, but that is what we were looking for. Beyond that, it’s in great shape & in a great school district. We couldn’t be happier and we sure hope it works out!
