We celebrated part of Ms. Maddie’s Birthday in Kentucky and the other part of it in Wisconsin.  She had a great time!

This past weekend, we spent some time at Otter Creek Park where we visited Morgan’s Cave – much to our surprise, we couldn’t get in!

There is a sign inside the cave that I read with a flashlight that says that they have closed it off because the Gray Bats that live in the cave are very afraid of humans.  During the summer months – when many people visit the cave – the Gray Bats will have their babies. The mother bats are so afraid of humans, in fact,  that if a person enters the cave, the mother will drop her flightless baby and then the baby will drown in the river at the bottom of the cave.

Click on the photos to see larger versions; the quality isn’t that great because I took the photos with my phone. Our little camera is still not working!

We had a little party at our house last night as a farewell to our current Crossing Community Group; many of us are going in different directions and we thought that the best way to say goodbye would be to have a pool & slip-n-slide party for the kids. Eli enjoyed his first bit of watermelon that wasn’t pre-cut into small pieces and the rest of the kids enjoyed playing in the yard. Click the photo for a slideshow of the “event.”
